So far with this cold snap the casualties have been my battery my alternator the coil pack  the ignition control module and my patience, I am so freaking tired of this cold. Then I have to dance around with wifi adapters that will not work that tech support assures me will work but does not.I am so tired of winter.

Embrace The Suck

Embrace the suck
Often used by NCO's in the military. The term would be used when an individual or a group must complete a task that is pointless, tiring, and/or lame.
NCO: Hey gather up, we need to mow the grass before we are released today.
Soldier: That's bullshit, we had all day to do that.
NCO: Well then just embrace the suck and get it done.

Ever had one of those days , weeks, months or even a year When things were just so bad you did not know if you would survive?  You needed a miracle  just to keep living.  Everyone around you gave advice that was of no value. Your prayers were bouncing off the ceiling and could not light a candle, much less the forest fire you need or so it seems.

Well in these moments I want to encourage you to" Embrace the Suck" Its not that you want to remain in the deep dark place but while you are there you might as well be happy. Being mad or sad will not help. All problems have a expiration date.                                      

 Some just take longer ,so get over yourself, and "Embrace the Suck"

Merry Christmas

I was told to write everything, not just
The profound or special.So I hope my readers do not get bored.
I survived Christmas without a scratch and lots of food at friends, I sent out text that cross polinated and people I knew wished people I knew Merry Christmases

Computer blows up So now I have to reboot and repair. When I am done it will be a new computer with a different name. Sort of like rebooting your life humm?

Keep Calm and Return Fire

So as the story goes, this has been a banner year for "stuff".  It truly felt like I was Pearl Harbor. It all came out of the blue on a sunny day. No warning hint or anything. The list of crap that showed up in my life was long and nasty. But more on that later. I am more and more convinced it is your thinking that saves you or kills you.  So what happens after the ship hits the sand?  I recommend first checking for bullet holes and wounds on your side. Do not  react quickly and in anger unless immediate action is required. IE such as they are shooting at you now.  Gather your thoughts see what the damage is, and what needs to be done. Then talk to GOD about it. Objects may be crappier than they appear, and things may not be as they appear. You may be dodging a much bigger bullet than you realize by being removed from something or someone.

Leadership is not for everyone.

So often I  have to interact with type A, alpha, go getting hard charging  people.  The problem is  they are also often jerks, and usually have made one or more bad decisions that lead them to my world. They are one step away from disaster and  usually the author of it themselves. So if you are one of those dynamic type people and everywhere you go people run for cover and avoid you and even more so if the police have been called because of you. I would offer this advice, STOP IT NOW! Being a jerk is not a leadership skill. If you drive all your followers away what are you leading? Leadership is a lot of work with limited reward and thanks. Be sure you are willing to do the work and make the sacrifice.  And if you find yourself  just not willing, well that's OK too. Not everyone should be a leader some are meant to be really great followers, And really great followers  make a leader.

I came home from work hot, tired stressed and worn out.  I just wanted to take a nap,  but the dogs really needed to go out and laundry was walking out the door. Not the great walking  to survival that we all read of. But stuff needed to be done. Heard this great sermon of an Antarctic adventure where the only survivor just made the decision to take another step to keep going on. I think it works also with the mundane daily stuff. Going to  keep keeping on. Let us see what this becomes.
